Boy’s Camp-out - 2009

On October 9th and 10th we had our first ever Boy’s Camp-out at Pole Cat Hollow! This was a new event for us, as we were able to split the usual Fall Retreat into two separate gender-specific camp-outs. We had many boys from our various programs come to the camp-out and we were able to spend time together over the fire, eating camp food, and we even took a hike down through the creek! It was very exciting to have the time set apart to work with just guys and to see the potential for other camp-outs that can be spent in meaningful investment in the boy’s lives.

Fall Retreat 2009 - Girl’s Camp-out!

Our Nikos Fall Retreat for Girls happened Sept. 25 - 27th. It was amazing to see how God changed our initial plans for a traditional Nikos camp-out and formed something so much better! Although it required faith and flexibility, the retreat went beautifully as a “girls only” camp-out. We saw God working out even the smallest details, making the ratios of campers to leaders just right for relational connections to happen amongst the activity rotation, songs, teaching, and tent time.

photo Here’s a snapshot from our HEB Camp Girls Sleepover! We were preparing to watch a movie in 3D after we made a spaghetti dinner together : ) The mentors who came to HEB Camp organized this fun way to follow up with the ladies after spending a week together at Camp. I think we’re making a new fashion statement!

"Road Trip" to HEB Camp!

Pray for us as we hit the road for our HEB Camp trip this week! We will be spending the week together with teens that have been involved in relationship with us over the years. The H.E. Butt Foundation Campgrounds are out in Leakey, TX, on the Rio Frio. We have an amazing campground right on the river in a beautiful canyon. We’ll spend time together swimming, hiking, playing basketball/volleyball, eating, floating down the river, etc. It is a great venue for us to continue to develop relationships and to speak about the Lord and His mighty plan and work in our lives.

Day 3 (evening)

Day 3 is often one of the harder days at camp. Everyone has been playing hard and it is pretty easy to get a little grouchy.

We got word a few hours ago about a major storm heading our way. However, at this point it looks like the storm will miss us. Continue to pray for peace among all the leaders and campers, and a good night’s rest before our last full day.

You can check out more updates and some detailed summaries over at www.campnikos.com. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to get updates via email by clicking here.
